The Frank H. Hamilton Surgical Society is a student run club geared at exposing medical students to a career in Surgery. We have monthly meetings with a different theme for each where we have wonderful physicians from the Buffalo community come and talk about their careers, personal paths they have taken to get to where they are as well as breakthroughs in their specialties. This past year we had events featuring pediatric surgeons, colorectal surgeons, surgical oncologists, cardio-thoracic surgeons, as well as our own Chief of Surgery Dr. Schwaitzberg. In addition to our monthly talks we also have a wonderful shadowing program through the Department of Surgery at ECMC, where students will work with the residents on shift on weekend nights. Also, students in our club will have the opportunity to participate in various surgical research studies currently underway through the Surgery Department. We are always open to trying new events and would love any feedback or requests on a particular theme to a meeting. Please feel free to contact us via email.
